| Description |
| Running along both sides of the Upper Connecticut River, byway includes numerous traditional New England historic and cultural sites in rural farming villages and urban centers, set in a landscape of sheltered valleys and mountains. Points of interest along the Vermont section of the byway include: the Rockingham Meeting House, the earliest public building in Vermont, built in 1787; the American Precision Museum, housing the largest collection of historically significant machine tools in the country; the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park and the Billings Farm & Museum; the Quechee Gorge, one of Vermont's most spectacular natural wonders; White River Junction, home to a historic railroad station and Old 494, a restored train engine; and the New England Transportation Museum, which details the region's railroading history. |

| Byway includes sections in New Hampshire and Vermont. From the New Hampshire-Massachusetts border, byway runs north along NH 63, NH 12, NH 12A, NH 10, NH 135, US 3, and NH 145 to the Canadian border. The New Hampshire section of the byway runs parallel on the east side of the Connecticut River. |
