Description
The towering Cascade Mountains and Deschutes National Forest provide the backdrop for this scenic drive and offer outstanding opportunities for hiking and rock climbing. The byway's main feature is the numerous lakes including Devil's Lake, Sparks Lake, the Lava Lakes, the Cultus Lakes, Crane Prairie Reservoir, Wickiup Reservoir, and Davis Lake. Byway provides outstanding viewpoints of Mount Bachelor and Three Sisters in the Cascade Range and crosses paths with early explorers and trappers like Kit Carson, John C. Fremont, and Nathaniel J. Wyeth.
Start/End Point
From Bend, byway follows Forest Road 46 west, passing through Deschutes National Forest, turning south near Devil's Lake, and continuing south to the junction of FR 46 and SR 58 (near Crescent and Odell lakes.)

3-5 hours.
