Description
Paralleling the Chugach Mountains along its entire route, byway follows a path carved by ancient glaciers. It provides access to the 495,000-acre Chugach State Park at Eagle River and follows the Matanuska River for over half its length. Near the byway's end at Eureka Summit, visitors can observe four of Alaska's major mountain ranges: the Alaska Range, the Chugach Mountains, the Talkeetna Mountains and the Wrangell-St. Elias Mountains.
